“I had the privilege to be coached by Scott Bennefield for a year as he helped me prepare for my very first triathlon and first full Ironman. Scott shared with me his wealth of knowledge on how to train properly, tapering, nutrition, supplements, products, creating for me a great training plan and more. I’ve come to love the triathlon sport thanks to Scott Bennefield. Scott gave me the right guidance to help me reach my goals. I’ve never felt any better about myself and losing over 50 pounds and being in the best shape I’ve ever been in definitely helps in feeling this great. Not only has Scott been an inspiration to me but is truly a great friend, an encourager, training accountability partner, and a great coach. I would highly recommend him to anyone.”

"Coach Scott was a blessing as I prepared and completed two Sprint Triathlons, just two weeks apart! He's not only knowledgeable, professional, caring and challenging, in his coaching style but he is understanding, flexible, giving, inspiring and encouraging! Whether, a person is a novice or a professional in the sport, Coach Scott, considers you an "athlete" and addresses you as so. He helps you find your inner strength and beyond! Thank you Coach Scott!"

"Scott helped me complete my very first sprint triathlon, he took the time to help me in the pool and overcome my fear of the water. I ended up placing 2nd in my age group. I was able to get out of my comfort zone. I learned how to swim the distance, and utilize my gears on the bike to be more efficient. I also got out and ran in the wind and conquered the hills. I was very comfortable with Scott, I trusted his guidance and coaching. On a more personal level he helped me believe in myself the way he believed in me that I could do a triathlon and finish. If someone was looking for a coach I would direct them to Scott, he is great a coach! He is understanding, knowledgeable, approachable, soft spoken and has a BIG Heart for everybody! Scott has a gift of giving back. He has positive feedback to help critic your form and performance. He is very easy going and can work with anyone that is willing to put in the time. He will help you become a better athlete. I can say I am a triathlete, Scott helped me get there!"

"Scott will prepare you to do a triathlon much better than reading a book or learning from your friends. His coaching style is accepting of any type of athlete. He is great for beginners that have never done a tri to more advanced athletes. He will track your progress and give you the tools to succeed. Scott has made an impact on my life by connecting me with some great people to work out with. Training for me is much better done in a group with educated guidance. He gives you a training schedule and workouts to make sure you are doing the right things for your success."

"I had just started running for the first time in my life just two months before having Scott as a coach. I had no formal training whatsoever. I asked Scott to help me prepare for my very first 5K run. I had just registered for the Duke City Marathon’s 5K run on October 20, 2013. Scott had a terrific influence on me as I felt confident that he was helping me prepare for the race in a variety of ways. He helped me with specific stretching exercises for warm ups and cool downs to promote healthy running and prevent injuries. He gave me tips to increase the capacity for my breathing, focus on my running cadence, mental pictures for a strong run and finish, and overcoming obstacles. He also gave me great applications for why I run, how to run, how to be consistent and why and how my running strategies and discipline can apply to my life as a whole.I have experienced severe loss and heartbreak in the last 4 years, and my running has been an outlet for the grief and emotional upheaval, as well as, a way to reduce my stress and help me cope. Scott was willing to share some of his own life journeys that have been difficult in order to help me see how the discipline and joy of running can help me now and in the future.Scott is personable, funny, warm, and exceptionally knowledgeable about running, biking, swimming, and sports training of all sorts. His own track record is amazing as he has not only competed in races and triathlons, but the brutal Ironman competition. He has completed the Ironman 9 times – I would call that pretty incredible!!"

"With Scott, the weekend long rides were great. Saw a drastic reduction in my Tramway climb times! He also got me to the point where I actually enjoyed my road biking versus just bearing through it as I’ve done on past sprint-triathlons. Scott’s use of the Training Peaks App kept me on pace with personalized workouts that allowed me to progress towards finishing my first half IronMan. The fartleks were especially challenging!"

"Scott is a great coach who truly cares about his athletes and wants to see them succeed in reaching there goals. Scott has helped me become a better swimmer through drills and video analysis. With his coaching I completed my first Olympic distance triathlon. His confidence in me helped me stay confident in my training and that I was ready for my race. If you are looking to complete your first race or your tenth or just looking to live a healthier life, Scott can help you reach those goals. Scott is more than a coach to me, he is a friend."

"I started working with Coach Scott after I trained by myself for my first ironman. Scott quickly provided structure and streamlined my training plan. I trained smarter, which equated to better recovery periods and higher intensity workouts. I even set a personal best at ironman Arizona with Scott by my side. Scott provided useful information regarding my bike trainer workouts. Prior to Scott I rode in front of the tv without a purpose. Now I get a lot out of every trainer ride. Although, sometimes I wish I could ride and actually enjoy the show I am watching. Scott will always talk to you to calm you down when you are getting nervous before a race. And even when you feel under-trained for a race, he'll get your mindset to be positive and feeling good about your race prep. That helps more than I think even he realizes.Good luck training with Coach Scott. He will make any triathlete better. He did this for me for two iron distance races and a half iron race."

"Scott, the Ironman Pastor, helped me become a Triathlete. He knows me on a personal level and understands my goals and my abilities. He is a Friend, a Coach, and Mentor. He coaches by example. I'm not sure that I would have got in the cold water in the pool at 6 am, unless he was there, swimming in the lane beside me. (faster and longer)"

info:
I’d been a self-trained triathlete and runner for years before I worked with Scott. I joined one of his group coaching sessions and gained not only the benefit of his knowledge, but his friendship and the friendship of others as well. Scott exposed me to valuable training techniques I hadn’t tried before and also gave me the support of training and racing with a group of friends. Scott has an amazing way of pushing you to exhaustion, but yet still keeping that big, friendly smile on his face.
